ED Raid in Jharkhand; The Enforcement Directorate (ED) took major action in Jharkhand on Tuesday (29 October 2024) before the assembly elections. The ED team has raided the Ranchi residences of senior Jharkhand IAS officer Vinay Choubey, Excise Department Joint Secretary Gajendra Singh and many other close relatives of them and concerned officials.
According to sources, this action has been taken in the liquor scam case. Let us tell you that in the case related to this liquor scam, the ED team had also raided Chhattisgarh and interrogated the officials there. The liquor policy on which the ED team is raiding was brought about three years ago.
What is Jharkhand’s liquor scam?
It is alleged that changes were made in the excise policy of Jharkhand as part of a conspiracy. After this, tender for domestic and foreign liquor in the state was also given to the people of the syndicate. Country liquor with duplicate hologram was sold without accounting in Jharkhand. Also, by making rules in the form of FL 10A license, the work of supply of foreign liquor was given to the agencies close to them. After this, illegal commission worth crores of rupees was taken from those companies. Illegal earnings worth crores of rupees were made from this.
This is the Chhattisgarh connection of this case
In fact, the Jharkhand government had implemented the liquor policy of Chhattisgarh three years ago. Chhattisgarh officials Anil Tuteja, Anwar Dhebar, Arunpati Tripathi and their syndicate had caused a loss of billions of rupees of revenue to the Chhattisgarh government by committing liquor scam, which is being investigated by ED. It is alleged that this syndicate, in collaboration with Jharkhand officials, made changes in the excise policy of Jharkhand, due to which the government’s revenue was affected. This is the reason why the ED team is raiding Chhattisgarh along with Jharkhand in this case.
